... had quite a few lunches and quality time with D and friends where we got to talk. I loved the opportunities to really talk with people. Lately I hadn't got much of it. I had the opportunities to say "see you" to friends who were leaving for another state or another country. Change, change, change. The world around me (and myself) kept changing, so fast.
... sadness and sickness. I was sick with cold for the past few days. My friend's daughter passed away, and then a couple days later my sister's FIL passed away. Those moments got me to think a lot about life and how thankful I was to be surrounded by wonderful people, no matter how many miles apart we were. I remember my sister's FIL came to the hospital last year when my father had a heart attack. Om (that's how I called him) was sick himself, but he came with his wife because he said he had something to say to my father. He was a really nice man, very thoughtful, and to my father, he read Psalm 128:
Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways.
You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house;
your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.
Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.
May the LORD bless you from Zion all the days of your life;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,
and may you live to see your children's children.
Peace be upon Israel.
When I heard that he passed away, in my heart I was shocked and then I realized that a year ago, he actually gave his blessings of a longer life to my father. Om, I will never forget you and the kindnesses you'd shown to my family. Love you...
...at the same time, the campus was quiet. It's summer. There were only a few classes and many of the students were away, back to their home towns, or maybe traveling.
Wish you all some quiet, thoughtful, and yet happy moments.
Wish you the best ...
