WELCOME 2010.

One and a half hour to go in 2009. And soon it's going to be 2010.
Christmas tree will go to its box. Flowers will die. Ornaments will be put back to the storage. Old planner closed. New planner is waiting.

This town is quiet this night -at least in the area where I live. No fireworks, no trumpets like back home, no people go around with motorcycles, blowing the horns, honking and shouting, "Selamat Tahun Baru!" No competitions among TV channels to show the biggest, gayest, more colorful New Year celebration.

At 00:00, people may be on the streets, celebrating. They may be at the parks, entertainment centers, bars, partying, strolling, drinking, hugging, laughing, smiling. They may stay in the warmth of home and family. Some people are alone, cold, poor, lonely, and feeling miserable. Some people choose to be by themselves, contemplating, planning, reflecting, and thinking. New Year is coming, and surely there is hope for all.

From this side of the world, in the quietness, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful 2010.
